Secret Concert at Lyveden

Last summer people across Northamptonshire brought out their picnic blankets for open-air summer music at Lyveden New Bield.  With a concert programme of music by William Byrd and Thomas Tallis, The Pankhurst Anthem, powerful slave spirituals and Syrian folk music, Secret Concert at Lyveden was a celebration of music as a force for change and freedom of expression.

Lyveden’s Tudor gardens are full of hidden symbols and architectural clues.  They represent one person’s expression of his beliefs during a time of great instability, change and danger.

Secret Concert at Lyveden invited audiences to engage with themes across four hundred years that burn just as brightly today and wonder to themselves…what do I stand for in these turbulent times?
